BMW
Medium luxury SUV
From $88,100 plus on-road costs
The third generation X3 (G45) landed in Australia in late 2024 on BMW's CLAR architecture with a more upright stance, frameless doors, and a cleaner side profile. xDrive AWD is standard, the cabin runs iDrive 9 on a curved display, and the M50 brings genuine inline six character.
We haven't driven the X3 yet. On paper, options pricing escalates fast. M Sport Pro pack, Visibility Pack and Comfort Pack inflate the bottom line quickly. Lock in your spec before signing.
Buyers who want a premium medium SUV with proper BMW dynamics and the option of an inline six. M50 is the enthusiast pick.

Look at the alternatives if you want a PHEV or full EV X3 (iX3 is a separate car), or you want larger boot space than 570 L.
Pricing opens at $88,100 plus on-roads for the 20 xDrive and tops out at $131,400 plus on-roads for the M50 xDrive, across 4 variants. Prices checked October 2026, so confirm with a dealer.
Not in Australia at launch. The xDrive20 and M50 both run 48V mild hybrid petrol drivetrains. BMW's electric mid-size SUV is the separate iX3.
5 years unlimited km on the vehicle. The EV battery on related electric BMWs gets 8 years or 160,000 km cover, but the X3 itself is not electrified beyond mild hybrid.
BMW claims 4.6 seconds from 0 to 100 km/h, courtesy of the 290 kW, 580 Nm 3.0L inline six with 48V mild hybrid assistance.
