Diesel is back in the LDV D90. The seven-seat large SUV adds two turbo-diesel four-wheel-drive grades, with the Executive Diesel opening at $49,700 drive-away for private buyers on a launch offer that runs to 31 October 2026, a saving of about $4,500 off the recommended price.

More grunt and more towing

The new diesel is a 2.5 litre turbo-diesel four-cylinder borrowed from the LDV Terron 9 ute, making 164kW and 520Nm through an eight-speed automatic. Braked towing rises to 3,500kg, up from 3,100kg on the old diesel, and fuel use is a claimed 8.1 litres per 100km. The range tops out with the Luxe Diesel at $54,437 drive-away. At that money the LDV D90 undercuts established seven-seat four-wheel-drives like the Ford Everest and the Isuzu MU-X, while matching them on the 3,500kg tow rating.

Cartell Assessment

The old D90 diesel was underdone, so a stronger engine and a higher tow rating fix its biggest weakness. Under fifty grand drive-away for a seven-seat diesel four-wheel-drive that tows 3,500kg is sharp, provided the resale and dealer network stack up.

AU Outlook

Affordable seven-seat diesel wagons are a crowded fight right now, with Mahindra and KGM also chasing value buyers. The D90 diesel gives LDV a credible Everest and Prado alternative, and the launch pricing should get it onto shopping lists before October ends.
