Volvo Car Australia has recalled 4,141 EX30 and EX30 Cross Country electric SUVs because the front seat head restraints may not have been built to specification. In a collision the head restraints could move or detach from the seat, raising the risk of serious injury. The recall (REC-006745, campaign R10396) covers EX30 model years 2024 to 2026 and the 2026 EX30 Cross Country.
What owners should do
Volvo will write to affected owners asking them to book their car in with an authorised Volvo dealer, where the repair is carried out free of charge. Owners who want to check straight away can enter their VIN on the national register at vehiclerecalls.gov.au, or call Volvo Car Australia Customer Care on 1300 787 802. The Volvo EX30 is the brand's smallest and most affordable EV, and one of its best sellers here.
Cartell Assessment
Head restraints that could detach in a crash cut against the EX30's core safety promise, so this is worth acting on quickly. The repair is free, and most owners should have it sorted in a single short dealer visit.
AU Outlook
The EX30 has been a volume hit for Volvo in Australia, which makes a 4,141-car recall a sizeable chunk of the fleet. Expect Volvo to fold the fix into routine servicing where it can to keep the disruption low.
