Toyota
Medium electric SUV
From $55,990 plus on-road costs
The bZ4X is Toyota Australia's first full battery-electric SUV, arriving in 2026 after a major MY26 update lifted battery capacity, charging speed and range over the original 2022 launch car. e-TNGA platform shared with the Subaru Solterra, 71.4 kWh NMC battery, Pure FWD with 150 kW front motor or Lounge AWD with 252 kW dual motor.
We haven't driven the bZ4X yet. On paper, pure FWD is the rational pick. Lounge AWD is the cabin you want but it walks into Polestar 4 and Tesla Model Y Performance money. Confirm final Toyota AU pricing at launch before signing.
Toyota loyalists wanting the brand's first EV SUV in Australia, long-warranty buyers chasing the 10-year battery care cover, light off-road users who want X-Mode on the AWD, and buyers who value the national Toyota dealer footprint for service.

Look at the alternatives if you want an 800V architecture with higher peak DC charging (Hyundai Ioniq 5 or Kia EV5), a Tesla Supercharger network with Model Y sharper packaging, a longer warranty without conditions (Kia EV5 7-year), or a frunk under the bonnet for extra storage.
Pricing opens at $55,990 plus on-roads for the bZ4X 2WD and tops out at $69,990 plus on-roads for the bZ4X Touring AWD, across 3 variants. Prices checked October 2026, so confirm with a dealer.
