Three rows of seats used to mean big money. Not any more. We went straight to each manufacturer's own website on 23 October 2026 and ranked the cheapest new cars in Australia with seven or more seats by drive-away price, private buyer. Where a price is a limited-time offer we say so, along with the normal price and the end date, because a lot of these deals run out on 31 October.
One honest caveat before we start. At this end of the market the third row is usually for kids or short trips. If you fill all seven seats every day, read our best seven-seater SUVs guide too, because a people mover may suit you better than the cheapest badge.
1. Mahindra XUV700 AX7: $29,990 drive-away (run-out offer)

The cheapest seven-seater in the country right now, and by a long way. Mahindra has taken $10,000 off the Mahindra XUV700 AX7, so it is $29,990 drive-away instead of its normal $39,990. The catch is in the fine print: the offer is for 2025 build stock and ends 31 October 2026. The better-equipped AX7L is $33,990 drive-away, down from $42,990, on the same terms.
You get a 2.0 litre turbo petrol making 149.2kW and 380Nm, dual 10.25 inch screens and a third row that folds flat when you do not need it. At the run-out price nothing else comes close. At the normal $39,990 it is still near the top of this list. Our older XUV700 review covers how it drives.
2. Chery Tiggo 8 Urban: $38,990 drive-away

The cheapest seven-seater that is not a run-out deal. The Chery Tiggo 8 Urban is $38,990 drive-away, with a $2,000 fuel card thrown in to 31 October 2026, and the Ultimate is $43,990. It runs a 2.0 litre turbo petrol with 180kW and 375Nm, the most power on this list below $50,000, and Chery quotes 8.1L/100km for the Urban.
It carries a five-star ANCAP rating and Chery's seven year, unlimited kilometre warranty. Boot space is 117 litres with all seven seats up and 739 litres with the third row folded, measured to the roof, so treat it as a five-seater with two emergency seats.
3. Mahindra Scorpio Z8+: $39,990 drive-away (run-out offer)

The cheapest seven-seat diesel four-wheel drive you can buy. The Mahindra Scorpio Z8+ is $39,990 drive-away on 2025 build stock until 31 December 2026, down $4,000 from its normal $43,990. The Z8L+ is $45,990, down from $48,990.
It is a ladder-frame wagon with a 2.2 litre turbo-diesel (128.6kW and 400Nm), low-range gearing and diff locks. That makes it a different tool to the soft-roaders here: rougher around town, much happier on a fire trail. If you tow or tour, it is worth the drive.
4. Chery Tiggo 8 Super Hybrid Urban: $46,898 drive-away (Melbourne)

The cheapest plug-in hybrid seven-seater. Chery's own price tool puts the Tiggo 8 Super Hybrid Urban at $46,898 drive-away for a Melbourne 3000 private buyer, and the Ultimate at $51,066. Until 31 October 2026 you can take either 0.70 per cent comparison rate finance or $3,000 cashback.
Chery quotes 1.3L/100km on the combined test and about 1,200km of total range. Plug it in at home each night and most school runs could be done on electricity. Our launch story has the full powertrain detail, and our cheapest plug-in hybrids guide shows how it stacks up against five-seat PHEVs.
5. Isuzu MU-X LS-M 4x2: $49,990 drive-away

The cheapest way into a mainstream-brand seven-seat diesel wagon. Isuzu's national drive-away offer has the 25.5MY Isuzu MU-X 4x2 LS-M 2.2 at $49,990 until 31 October 2026, with metallic paint $695 extra. The 4x4 LS-T 2.2 is $69,990.
Seven seats are standard across the range, it wears a five-star ANCAP rating, and Isuzu advertises 3.5 tonne towing for the MU-X (check the exact rating for your variant). Two-wheel drive suits most families who tow on the bitumen. Read our MU-X LS-T review for the full drive.
6. Honda CR-V VTi L7: $54,900 drive-away
The Honda CR-V VTi L7 is the only seven-seat grade in the range, at $54,900 drive-away nationally. That is a fixed Honda price, so there is no haggling, and October buyers get a $1,000 AmpolCash fuel card to 31 October 2026. Honda quotes 7.3L/100km.
It is the most car-like drive here, with leather, a panoramic sunroof and Honda's five year unlimited kilometre warranty. The third row is tight and the boot shrinks to 150 litres with it up, so this is the pick for a family of five that occasionally carries two extra kids.
7. Kia Sorento Hybrid S: about $59,490 drive-away

Kia lists the Kia Sorento Hybrid S front-drive from $59,490 drive-away as an estimate, on 2025 build stock. The plug-in hybrid S AWD is from $69,990. Diesel Sorentos bought and delivered in September or October come with five free scheduled services.
This is the most rounded seven-seat SUV on the list: proper third row, hybrid economy and Kia's seven year warranty. If your budget stretches this far, it is the default choice for a reason.
8. Kia Carnival Hybrid S: about $59,990 drive-away

If you genuinely carry seven people, buy the van. Kia's drive-away estimate for the Kia Carnival Hybrid S is from $59,990, only $500 more than the Sorento Hybrid, and it gives you sliding doors, adult-sized third row seats and more boot space with every seat in use. See our Carnival GT-Line Hybrid review and the BYD M9 vs Carnival comparison.
9. BYD Sealion 8 Dynamic FWD: $61,450 drive-away (NSW)

The BYD Sealion 8 Dynamic FWD lists at $56,990 plus on-road costs, which BYD's configurator turns into $61,450 drive-away for a private buyer in NSW. Orders placed by 21 December 2026 and delivered by 31 December qualify for a $4,000 cashback or 0.99 per cent comparison rate finance, which brings it into the same money as the Kias. It is the biggest plug-in hybrid seven-seater here. For pure electric options at a higher price, see our best electric 7-seaters.
Who is missing
Two obvious names are not ranked. The Mitsubishi Outlander and Nissan X-Trail both offer seven-seat versions, but neither brand shows a readable drive-away price for them on its own website today (Mitsubishi's offers are image-only, Nissan's offer tiles did not load a price), so we would be guessing. Check our Outlander PHEV review and X-Trail e-Power review, and get a written drive-away quote before you compare them with this list.
Cartell Assessment
On price alone the Mahindra XUV700 run-out at $29,990 is the deal of the month, but it ends on 31 October and it is 2025 build stock. The safest cheap buy is the Chery Tiggo 8 at $38,990: five-star ANCAP, seven year warranty and the most power at the price. If you tow or go bush, the Scorpio and MU-X are the honest tools. If the third row will be full most days, stretch to the Carnival Hybrid. Whatever you pick, confirm the drive-away figure in writing for your postcode, because on-road costs vary by state.
